Timber Frame Roof Structure

This timber frame roof structure features a locally sourced Douglas fir timber frame, stained black to compliment the surrounding granite buildings.

Key features:

  • It draws inspiration from Japanese architecture and incorporates a blend of traditional pegged mortise and tenon joinery alongside modern design elements.

  • Heavy-duty, bespoke galvanised post feet provide sturdy support, and stainless steel fixings are used throughout for durability. The roof has a black box profile, designed to match the existing barn.

  • The structure is intended to harmonise with the pitches and shapes of nearby buildings, effortlessly blending into its environment while still making a bold statement.

  • One side of the new structure will serve as a storage area, while the open side is planned to cover an outdoor seating and fire pit area.
