Timber Frame Roof Structure
This timber frame roof structure features a locally sourced Douglas fir timber frame, stained black to compliment the surrounding granite buildings.
Key features:
It draws inspiration from Japanese architecture and incorporates a blend of traditional pegged mortise and tenon joinery alongside modern design elements.
Heavy-duty, bespoke galvanised post feet provide sturdy support, and stainless steel fixings are used throughout for durability. The roof has a black box profile, designed to match the existing barn.
The structure is intended to harmonise with the pitches and shapes of nearby buildings, effortlessly blending into its environment while still making a bold statement.
One side of the new structure will serve as a storage area, while the open side is planned to cover an outdoor seating and fire pit area.
