The Larch Cabin
This larch clad building was designed with extra room in mind. Another space for the family to use that adds fluidity to a once bare garden. Created in a modern style with an emphasis on natural light. The simple interior and bi-folding doors mean this is a versatile space that can change and grow as the family does.
Larch was chosen as the cladding for its tough and waterproof qualities. Aesthetically it adds a neutral tone; its pinkish hue and simple grain make for a very handsome look night or day.
A slatted pergola was added to tie the spaces together. This creates a snug dappled space that then leads towards the house, producing highlights and shadows throughout the day.
Since this space is for family, its main footfall will inevitably be in the evenings or at weekends. Strategically placed lighting was essential to making the whole area usable during these times.
